The founder China Åhlander is an internationally acclaimed producer. She has produced the six-time nominated and two-time Guldbagge (the Swedish Oscar) awarded “My Aunt in Sarajevo” (2016) directed by Goran Kapetanović. China is also one of the co-authors of the script.
China Åhlander has produced the festival favorite and the four-time Guldbagge awarded EAT SLEEP DIE (2012), including BEST FILM, directed by Gabriela Pichler and the short film “On Suffocation” (2013), which also received a Guldbagge for Best Short.
China Åhlander also works as a script coach and production supervisor.
China Åhlander is a member of the producer organizations ACE and EAVE respectively.
Chinema Film Sweden’s latest release is the feature documentary “The Dear John Letter”, which is based on an open letter on Facebook that makes filmmaker and director Bill Watts reevaluate his friends from 80’s London. An unusual film where we get to see middle-aged men talk about their feelings and the shame that has affected them throughout their lives. The film premiered at the Tempo documentary festival 2024 and in the Swedish cinemas during the autumn 2024. The film can be streamed at TriArt.se, like Chinema Film Sweden’s other films.
